So. This weekend was my daughter, Evelyn’s, 4th birthday. 4th. Four. I cannot believe she is FOUR. It literally feels like she should still be toddling around the house dragging her favorite toy around. And okay, maybe she still walks around the house dragging a stuffed animal behind her, but she does it being a four year old.
She had an amazing weekend, which means that my husband and I are exhausted. We partied at our house with a Bubble Guppy party complete with twelve of her closest friends and their parents. When you’re four, everyone you meet is your closest friend and we’re lucky she meets great people, because her friends are pretty awesome (and their parents too).
We spent yesterday at Dollywood and we rode all.the.rides and played all.the.games. and we walked.all.the.miles. I need a vacation from this weekend, but it was worth it to see her so happy.
In less than a month, my son, Theodore, turns ONE.
So, hear me out. I say we cancel 2017. Just go ahead and admit that we haven’t gotten along and we tried, but sometimes it’s better to let some things go than to force it. You with me? Just sign a petition and we’ll call this finished and wait until 2018. We can use this time of a cancelled year to really focus on ourselves. We can do some personal development and really figure out what we want from 2018.
I mean–my oldest baby is FOUR and my youngest is about to be ONE.
I can’t even. And you cannot expect me to.
